AIDT Co-op Training at Mercedes-Benz, Vance, SC

PP&S of Alabama's Louis Feirman and Dennis Huff ​participated in extended training of college engineers at Mercedes-Benz in Vance, AL. The 4-day event ​was hosted by AIDT, a workforce development ​organization that supports Alabama business and government in promoting economic vitality.

Louis and Dennis partnered ​in AIDT's Co-op program that reaches out to AL colleges and universities to ​expose students to real-world experience and skills. The PP&S team covered ​Pumps101 basics, as well as a review of pump selection software capabilit​ies​. They also provided hands-on equipment demos ​for several equipment types during this 4-hour training session.

Dennis and Louis's morning session was followed by a ​presentation by our OEM partner Gusher.

​​PP&S participation in this type of training event ​serves to promote the future of manufacturing and engineering​ – segments that have been ​losing workforce interest over the past couple decades​.

A Trifecta of Wastewater Treatment Strategies

PP&S Environmental partner​ed with three OEM industry experts to deliver a course focusing on leading-edge alternatives to solving wastewater challenges. This course ​was featured in the South Carolina Rural Water Association’s (SCRWA) professional development class line-up for November 2013, and ​was offered on three dates and locations across SC.

Technologies discussed included: Decentralized Wastewater Treatment Facility (Contech-Magellan), Advanced Sequencing Batch Reactor (AWT Technologies), North America​n Extended Aeration Lagoon System (Bioworks).

Recent 

11.06.13 ​– PP&S conducted operator training on site for a new bulk liquid storage facility in Charleston SC. Curriculum included basic hydraulics, pump commissioning and troubleshooting.

Sept. + Oct. 2013 – PP&S Educational Series 
PP&S engineers ​teamed up with Flowserve Corp. to deliver a 5-part training series at Midrex Technologies, Inc. This pro-active program was tailored specifically toward engineering staff and ​was conducted at the Midrex Research, Development and Technology Center, and at Midrex’s Corporate Office. The curriculum was distributed over five 3-hour “lunch-and-earn” sessions, and covered the application and specification of several key centrifugal pump technologies.

James Willson II, P.E. of PP&S Enviro presented a technical session on Alternate Disinfection Methods for Water Distribution Systems at the SC Rural Water Assoc. Conference (SCRWA).

10.15.12Reliability Specialist Ray Shifflett conducted an 8-day customized training program on location at one of the Richmond, VA area’s largest manufacturing facilities. Modules ranged from pump theory, to application and operation.

03.12.12PP&S partnered with SIHI Pumps for a Lunch & Learn on location in Greenville, SC at one of the world’s largest engineering firms. Training focused on vacuum pump specs, operation and application, providing CE credits to 52 attendees.

03.14.12 – PP&S and SIHI Pumps conducted Lunch & Learn on location in Raleigh, NC, focusing on power/energy-specific equipment applications for a global engineering firm.
